Better Than New
When you buy a new instrument you expect it to play perfectly. Similar to buying a new automobile, you pay a little more for the privilege of being the first owner of an instrument that will last many years, if not a lifetime. Often, in spite of fine workmanship, inspection, and play-testing at the factory, many new instruments simply do not play up to expectations.
Many music stores and virtually all mail order companies deliver instruments to the customer in a factory-sealed container. Meaning, the negative effects of a sometimes long “shelf-life” are left to be discovered by you, the musician. Even a minute adjustment can be critical to your satisfaction and the quality of your musical experience.
Miles Ahead Music prides itself in taking the time to play test and thoroughly adjust every instrument we sell. Our master technicians share more than 75+ years of professional repair experience as well as being professional musicians. They play with groups such as the Louisville Orchestra, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Lexington Philharmonic, professional musical theatre, big bands, rock bands, and many more. Our technical repair expertise coupled with our experience as professional musicians deepens our dedication to selling quality musical instruments. You can trust Miles Ahead Music to deliver an instrument that is playing BETTER THAN NEW!
Miles S. Davis
I play everything from piccolo to bari: Miles works on all of my instruments. Each time, they play better than they did before! He also sold me my Miyazawa flute and Selmer soprano sax. Sometimes I don’t know which is better – his unbeatable sales/service or expert repair!

“In my fifty-six years of flute playing, I have not found a music company with the quality of Miles Ahead Music. Their staff is cordial, professional, and puts the customer first. I consider Miles Davis, owner, to be the best flute repair tech in the trade.”Miles Davis repaired my ten year old Buffet Prestige B flat and A clarinets this summer. Both needed a great deal of adjustment and the B flat clarinet had a crack through the top trill key that I had done a “seat of your pants” repair myself with super glue. Both of these instruments now play better than they have since I first got them and the crack is almost indiscernible. Miles Davis’ repair work is superb. His staff are professional and friendly. Miles Ahead Music is a top class business. Miles will be doing my personal instrument repair and that of our University instruments as well from now on!
